Having a website is crucial—even for very small businesses. A website serves as your digital storefront, offering potential customers information about your products or services 24/7. Without a website, you risk losing business to competitors who are online. However, hiring a developer can be costly and time-consuming.
In this workshop you’ll learn how to create a professional-looking, functional website with minimal effort and expense. We’ll guide you through:
What will you learn?
- How to navigate around the WordPress interface
- Installing and customising a theme to control the look and feel of your site
- Using the WordPress block editor to add content to your site
- Building the navigation to direct people to the different sections of your site
- Installing plugins to add functionality to your site
Who should attend?
This training is suitable for anyone who wants to learn more about how to use WordPress and would like to put together their own simple WordPress site. It is ideal for small businesses, sole traders, charities, hobbyists, freelancers, entrepreneurs and anyone looking to get a website up quickly and cost effectively.
How will the session work?
This is a live hands-on training session delivered over Zoom during which you will be able to ask questions and talk to the trainer. It is a good idea to have two screens if possible so that you can keep the training window visible while working on the hands on elements of the course.
We’ll record the session and you’ll have access to the video afterwards so you can watch back any bits you want to see again. You’ll also get a copy of the slides used during the session.
There’s a maximum of 10 attendees on this course, to ensure that everyone has the time to ask questions and get personal help as needed.
We will give you a website with WordPress already installed that you can use to build your site and to practice your WordPress skills, and the cost of hosting this site for a year is included in the course fees.
